Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow...
We have been digging, shoveling and playing in the 26 inches of snow we received from the Blizzard of 2010!!! New Jersey was declared a state of emergency as most were unable to leave their doorways and driveways. This is my third year now to enjoy the snow (and I still haven't tired of shoveling---well Alex does the bulk of it and I pretend to help!) For those of you back in Texas anytime you want to visit and help shovel there are plenty of takers...
The top picture was before we went to bed and the bottom picture was when we awoke to a white Christmas (eventhough it was one day late) Notice how our back gate was almost covered!!!
Our side door was covered...
We weren't driving anywhere...
Alex shoveling the sidewalks in the unbearable wind...
Our four legged kids played until their paws were frozen...
and finally the sidewalks were complete!!!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...
It is so hard to believe Christmas has come and gone in a blink of an eye. Where did the year go? 2010 was a great one and perhaps 2011 will surpass it....
We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
Here is our official Christmas card!

Six Months...
ago yesterday I married my best friend, the guy who puts up with me (that should be enough), the carpenter, the most motivated person I know and an all around good guy!!! I am lucky enough to call him my husband...
I couldn't have done it all without these TEXAS girls...
and of course our brothers...
for a BIG THANK YOU!!!
Gobble Gobble Gobble
After our girls trip we came home to have our
First Annual Thanksgiving Feast
with 20+ friends on Sunday to coincide with football!!! We had enough food to actually feed a football team...
Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of our actual food besides Alex cutting the turkey...
(still complexing to me that I don't have any pics of our food)
All seated and thankful...
A small portion of our dessert table...need I say more?
"Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life... a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons, the beauty of seedtime and harvest, the ripe product of the year - and the deep, deep connection of all these things with God."
~Ray Stannard Baker (David Grayson)
We also celebrated Thanksgiving with Alex's family on Thursday...
Washington DC
The day after Thanksgiving my "Jersey Girls" and I took a quick trip (meaning one night) to DC to take in the sights and sounds it had to offer...We did alot of shopping, eating, goofing around and admiring all the architecture which we had no clue what we were looking at...
Before we embarked on our walk we made a toast that we finally made it--no thanks to Carolyn
We stayed at the...
and I was enamored by their decorating and chandeliers!!!
oh and their comfy beds
and
the best foaming face wash I have ever used (I might have taken a few home)
Here are a few of the many pictures I took...
We had drinks at the W rooftop...
then took in some more sights the next morning before returning home to prepare for our Thanksgiving Feast
***Sorry for the excessive pictures***

Feels Like Home aka Texas
This past weekend we went to one of our friend's cabin (Thanks Charlie) in upstate New York. It reminded me of my grandparents weekend place outside Austin, Texas. We couldnt have asked for more perfect spring-like weather. There is just something about being in nature: the peacefulness, tranquility, lack of TV and cellphone reception, clean air, birds chirping and the gentle sound of the nearby streams. Needless to say, this is just what we needed to escape and enjoy a weekend away....
This is what we woke up to each morning...
The dogs (Hunter, Gia and Troy) did alot of this...
(Lexi stayed home and was spoiled by the grandparents)
while we did alot of this...
and got abit muddy from the recent snowstorm (yes, you read that correctly) that had melted...
and had a huge bonfire (which I slept through).
We even had to go into town to the nearest grocery store (a mere 45 minute drive) in which they had the largest selection of ales and microbrewed beers that I have ever seen--especially in a grocery store.
We can't wait until the next time Alex can pretend to be a...
